Hey Readers! Feeling Healthy and Happy ? Today I will tell you benefits of Onion. Onion is the staple in Indian salad. It comes in lots of different forms for example white, red and green also known as spring onion. Onion has magnesium, calcium, sodium, potassium, phosphorus and selenium, and they are a good source of vitamin C, vitamin B6, and dietary fiber too.

Onion has numerous health benefits and each form has different benefits:

  • Helps Reducing Cholesterol: Consumption of raw onion helps in lowering the level of bad cholesterol which is LDL. Hence, have onion freely in salad as bad breath is better than bad cholesterol.
  • Building Immunity: Vitamin C and Vitamin B6 available in raw form of onion helps in building strong immune system.
  • Preventing Cancer: Quercetin, a compound found in raw onion is shown to play a preventive role in stomach and colorectal cancer.
  • Heart Diseases: Onion acts as blood thinner or anticoagulant which prevent the blood cells from making clots.
  • Maintain Insulin: Onions contain a rare mineral chromium which is difficult to be found naturally in food. Chromium helps the body maintain the gradual release of sugar on blood, thus maintain blood sugar.

Firstly let’s talk about what is Vitamin B-12?  Then I will tell you Why Indians are deficient of it? What is Vitamin B-12? Vitamin B-12 is a water-soluble vitamin like all other Vitamin B. This means it is dissolvable in water and can flow through your blood stream. One interesting fact is that you can store it in your body for up to 4 years. It is large and complex-structured vitamin. Excess of it is excreted as urine. Facts about Vitamin B-12 It is important for brain functioning. It can lead to neurological difficulties and anemia. People above 14 years of age should consume 2.4 mcg of it daily. It is available in meats. Why Vitamin B-12 is essential?
